President's Message 2012
Aloha,
It has been a busy summer for the Hawaii State PTSA. In addition to holding our 84th annual state convention at the Sheraton Waikiki in June, the state board has undergone some recent changes. As of July 30, 2012, I was appointed Interim President of the Hawaii State PTSA.
I come to this position with many years of PTSA experience. I first became involved with PTSA 11 years ago and have held positions at the local, regional and state board level. In my new role as interim president, I look forward to guiding this impressive organization, which has been supporting the children of Hawaii since 1926.
Of course, none of the HSPTSA’s success would have happened without people like you, willing to volunteer your time in the quest of improving the lives of Hawaii’s keiki. Thank you for your invaluable contribution to the Hawaii State PTSA. Like a pebble thrown into a pond, our combined voices create great waves at the local, state, and national decision making levels, in our efforts to secure better education, health, safety, and well being for Hawaii’s keiki.
While the primary mission of the PTA remains the same, the Hawaii State PTSA board of directors has set forth some additional goals. They include:
1. Increased communication between the state board and local units
2. Expanding our diversity and inclusiveness
3. Filling the remaining open positions on the state board, to ensure that the state board can live up to its highest potential
4. Raise our advocacy voice through increasing membership
We look forward to working with you in this current school year. Feel free to reach out to us at histateptsa@hawaii.rr.com with any questions, concerns, or ideas. We welcome your input on how we can ensure that we are providing our local leaders with the best tools to ensure their success.
Mahalo,
Liz Sager
Interim President
